Monoblock 100 W with EL 156 |

This new developed power amplifier with the legendary tube EL 156
is principly based on the old Telefunken circuit. However, in the
21st century much better components are available than 40 years
ago. Remakes of the EL 156
with the oktal socket instead of the no more popular steel tube
socket are in trade. The circuit now can be built again with modern
parts and excellent transformer technology. Also modern semiconducter
circuits increase the performance, for example the DC heating, the
inrush delay as well as the easy to build construction. Most of
the parts are located on high quality pc boards. This avoids many
wires with all resulting faults. With one pair of EL 156
an output power of 130 W is possible. For better frequency response
and low distortion this amp is limited to 100 W, but the full power
exists also at 20 Hz! Also the life time of the power tubes and
safe operation are increased. For best tube sound 2nd harmonic of
distortion is dominant. This amplifier is a highlight for hifi friends.
